Title: Specifies Police Ability to Impound Vehicles
Vote to pass a bill that specifies police's ability to impound vehicles.
Authorizes county sheriffs to designate “special event zones” for events that may take place in a roadway (Sec. 1).
Requires the sheriff, when designating a special event zone to (Sec. 1):
Post a sign at least 24 hours before the event notifying drivers that all fines in the zone are doubled;
Ensure the event zone is enforced in the most convenient way possible; and
Remove event zone designations after the event has dissipated.
Requires any driver who commits a traffic violation in a special event zone to pay double the original fine (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the sheriff to impound the vehicle of any driver who commits a traffic violation in a special event zone for up to 72 hours (Sec. 1).
Authorizes law enforcement officers to enforce occupancy limits in the zone if necessary (Sec. 1).
Requires the sheriff to cover all fees paid by the event promoter for the designation of the event zone (Sec. 1).
Prohibits all vehicles but law enforcement vehicles from playing sound plainly audible at 25 feet away (Sec. 2).
Authorizes the sheriff to establish stricter vehicle noise ordinances at their discretion (Sec. 2).
