Statement

Friends,

Here is a recap of just a few of the many recent meetings I have had in Iowa and Washington, D.C. Remember folks, you can reach out to my office to help you set-up your visit to D.C. or if you have an issue dealing with the IRS, or a passport, or any issue with a federal agency I have three Constituent Services offices in Iowa ready to help with your casework needs - Council Bluffs, Creston, and Des Moines.

CLIVE POLICE DEPARTMENT RIDE-A-LONG

On Monday, June 8, I participated in a ride-a-long with the Officer Coleman from the Clive Police Department. This is my second police ride-a-long, I did one in Indianola two weeks ago. My goal was straight forward, I want to know what works and what does not work for this department, we also discussed several topics such as body cameras. A couple TV stations covered this stop, check out "In The News" on the right hand column.

MEETING WITH LOCAL MCDONALDS OWNERS IN DES MOINES

This past Monday, June 8, I had a good meeting with the local owners from the Des Moines area McDonalds and with Accia, the manager of the Drake University area McDonalds to discuss small business issues.

KSIB RADIO TRACTOR RIDE

On Saturday, June 6, I was in northeastern Union County talking about agriculture issues with folks as they came through Lorimor on a tractor ride.

IOWA 4H STUDENTS

Senator Grassley and I spoke with Iowa 4H Foundation students from all across Iowa about agriculture, trade, and more. They were in D.C. for the 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus Conference.

IOWA FFA STUDENTS

Met with nearly 100 Iowa FFA students on the House steps of the Capitol to talk about their trip to D.C., I ran into a few students I knew from Iowa's Third District!

FLOOR SPEECH ON COUNTRY OF ORIGIN LABELING

You know the country of origin labels on pork, beef, and chicken products you buy at your local grocery store in Iowa? The World Trade Organization has ruled four times that this labeling does not comply with their requirements and if the United States does not act, billions in retaliatory tariffs could be expected to come down on hardworking Americans. Those tariffs would hit Iowa especially hard because we are home to over 20 million hogs and almost 4 million cattle with nearly $2 billion of pork going to Canada and Mexico.

I was proud to speak against County of Origin Labeling and vote to repeal it this week in the U.S. House to save hardworking Iowans money.

Thank you for your genuine interest in following what goes on in Iowa and my work on your behalf. A representative government is a two way street, and the feedback you give me is so important that's why I welcome it: www.davidyoung.house.gov/contact.
