Issue Position

This year, voters will have a chance to decide the fate of Proposition 46 which is a lawyer-backed attempt to increase their payouts on medical malpractice lawsuits from the current cap of $250,000 to $1,000,000. Prop 46 will only serve to increase the cost of healthcare at a time when too many families in our community already struggle to afford health insurance. Costs will increase because the frequency of malpractice lawsuits will skyrocket due to the increased incentive for lawyers to file lawsuits, and doctors will be forced pass along the costs to their patients. I am strongly opposed to Prop 46 because California is already overrun with lawsuits and we need to do everything we can to keep healthcare affordable.
