Friday, Rep. Kristi Noem joined House Republicans and Democrats in passing H.R.3, the Keystone XL Pipeline Act, which would authorize the long-awaited pipeline's construction and operation. The vote in the U.S. House of Representatives comes in the wake of a Nebraska Supreme Court decision Friday morning that lifted one of the final state-based barriers on the project.

"The only thing stopping Keystone is the President and his far-left political agenda -- and that's flat-out wrong," said Noem. "Delaying Keystone is depriving South Dakota of good jobs, millions of dollars in revenue for cash-strapped counties, and relief for the roads and rails that are currently crowded with oil transit. The President has no more excuses. His own administration has released more than 20,000 pages of reviews showing Keystone is in the best interest of our economy and the environment. Now is the time to build."

Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith issued a statement Friday on the issue. "Today's vote in the House was a bipartisan endorsement of moving forward on this important infrastructure project. While previous attempts to pass this bill have been blocked in the Senate, I am hopeful a bipartisan majority in the upper chamber will have the votes to get it to the President's desk.

"Instead of continuing to impede this needed project, the President has an opportunity now to make good on his promise to find common ground and improve our infrastructure. Today's ruling by the Nebraska Supreme Court leaves no more excuses for delay. Whether he signs this bill or not, I hope he will see the urgency to support private investment in American jobs and energy." Congressman Smith participated in the debate of H.R. 3. on Friday.
