Iowa 3rd District Congressman David Young stopped at the KMA Studios on Thursday during a swing through Page and Fremont Counties.

Young, a Republican from Van Meter, says everywhere he's been this week during his listening stops in the District constituents want to talk about ISIS.

"And it's a different kind of enemy here. We're not dealing with a country with borders and a flag wearing uniforms. We're dealing with a death cult ideology. And we have to define it for what it is. That's the first thing you have to do is define your enemy and what they stand for."

Young says the resolution from President Obama asking for war powers against ISIS will require an honest debate on how best to approach the strategy to defeat ISIS.

"Your listeners are going to hear a new acronym, they hear a lot of them out of Washington. AUMF, the authorization Use of Military Force. Congress needs to be engaged in this. There have been hearings already in Congress, we're going to do more hearings when we come back and look at the resolution. And we're going to come together eventually in a bipartisan way.

The resolution the President put down will change. I think it's weak. I want to strengthen the President's hand because I don't his hands to be tied. I want to make sure we put all options on the table."

Young says the debate will center on exactly what those options should be, in particular whether or not there should be a deadline for accomplishing the military mission.

"I don't know how long it's going to last. But we have to finish the job. We don't want to keep going back, back and back there. You know the military will be involved. You need diplomatic angles to this, use our intelligence and build coalitions. I know that a lot of Americans, I'm one of them, I'm war weary after what happened in Iraq and Afghanistan, but can we afford to take all our options off the table with what is going on over there? We have to stop it."
