Westrom, Rep. Fleming Host ObamaCare Roundtable in Alexandria

Press Release

Date: Sept. 4, 2014
Location: Alexandria, MN

Today, Torrey Westrom welcomed Rep. and Dr. John Fleming (R-LA) to Minnesota's 7th Congressional District for a roundtable and fundraising event on the impact ObamaCare is having on America's families, small businesses, and physicians. The event highlighted concerns medical professionals have about the law, including the shrinking number of people becoming doctors and the likelihood of an insurance company bailout.

"I am grateful Congressman Fleming took the time to come to Minnesota and share his considerable insight into the effects of ObamaCare, both as a member of Congress and a physician," Westrom said in a statement. "Hearing firsthand accounts from physicians today makes me more convinced than ever that we need to repeal and replace ObamaCare."

"One concern I heard across the board today is that ObamaCare's regulatory burden is discouraging young people from becoming doctors and medical professionals, which could have devastating consequences," Westrom continued. "We need a system with smarter policies that will attract the best and brightest to our nation's health care system, not drive them away. When elected, I will work tirelessly with members like Congressman Fleming toward solutions that address health care's most pressing issues and put patients and doctors first."

In a statement, Rep. Fleming said "Washington needs more leaders like Torrey Westrom; a small business owner who wants to put an end to destructive big government policies like Obamacare. It was great to spend time with Torrey today, and I hope the voters of the 7th District will send him to Congress to help repeal and replace Obamacare."
