John Gannon sponsored the Bluebird License Plate in the 1992 Legislature. In late 2011 when State Parks were on the chopping block, he organized a campaign "Keep Parks Open, Close Empty Mansion" and helped Representative Grant Burgoyne present a bill to do that.

"The bluebird plate was the first wildlife plate. John Gannon's legislative work was absolutely critical to get it passed. It has raised a lot of money for Fish and Game activities."
