Issue Position

Government likes to increase spending in an effort to improve performance. The failure of this philosophy is exemplified in education. We must maximize the potential of our children by empowering our state and local governments with the ability to make decisions best suited for the local schools. The federal government should not be in the education business. The latest example of misguided resources in education is Common Core. The reduced standards within Common Core, particularly in mathematics, put our students at a disadvantage against the rest of the world. The education decisions of our children should be made at the state and local level, with collaboration from parents.
