The greatest gift we can give a child is a quality education.

I feel that I received a great education in Prescott's public schools, so much so that we sent all three of our children through the Prescott school system, too. Besides engaged and dedicated parents, the most important element contributing to a quality education is having good, caring teachers that make a difference in our students' lives. I can remember each of my children talking about certain teachers that made an impact on them. Several of the people who had a profound impact on my life were teachers. Many of these teachers have remained an important part of my children's lives.

By growing our economy, we will be able to put more resources into education without looking simply to tax increases. With 70 to 80 percent of school districts relying on bonds and overrides to make ends meet, we must reform our K-12 funding system to ensure more dollars make it to the classrooms where they can do the most good.
