Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 4435, the Howard P. "Buck" McKeon National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015, which passed 325-98 in the House of Representatives.

"I am pleased the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act of 2015, which will have a positive impact on New Mexico's economy. This bill helps to reduce the risk associated with policy uncertainties and prevent the loss of valuable jobs in Albuquerque.

"I also appreciate that NNSA's activities were authorized at $8.46 billion, which is important for the nuclear deterrence and nonproliferation work done at Sandia National Laboratories. I am also pleased that the bill increases authorized funds for the Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) program located at Kirtland Air Force base, which develops low-cost satellites for our troops. This will allow the Air Force to deliver assets quickly and cost-effectively to the men and women serving in the armed forces."
