Issue Position: Congressional Issues

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

For far too long, we have had a Congress that held itself to a different standard than the American people. As a Congressman I am committed to reforming how Congress works. That is why on day one I voted to cut my office budget, and the office budget of every other Member of Congress by five percent.

While this cut will not solve our budget deficit, it is an important down payment on my commitment to solving our spending crisis. I am also working to make Congress more transparent, by requiring all new legislation to be available for public review for 72 hours before it can be voted on, by requiring all committees to post their bills on line, and by requiring all legislation to specifically cite the Constitutional authority behind the proposed law.
