Water

It is an absolute truth that without water there is no life. Our bodies are approximately two-thirds water. It is in our blood, sweat, and tears. However, water is also essential to economic development, and the overall quality of our lives.

I am passionate about our state's limited, precious water resources. That is why upon taking office, I sought to serve on the House Natural Resources Committee and help shape our water policies and laws. I am the only House member serving on this influential committee from the 50-plus county region comprising the High and South Plains.

We made progress on our state's water infrastructure needs during the 2011 legislative session when we passed and the voters approved additional bonding authority to help the Texas Water Development Board provide loan financing to local entities for the construction of water infrastructure projects.

We need to continue the development of long term water solutions comprising several key strategies, including conservation, education, and the need to find a sustainable way to fund water future projects.

It is my desire to continue to serve on the House Natural Resources Committee and to continue to be a catalyst in finding long-term solutions to our state's water needs.
