State Sovereignty

The Texas oath of office contains the words to "…preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, so help me God." To me these are solemn words made to my Creator and to the people I have the privilege of representing at the Texas Capitol.

Also, the oath of office means that I will preserve, protect, and defend all of the Constitution and not just portions of it. The Constitution is not a cafeteria menu from which to pick likes and dislikes. I have stood up and will continue to stand up for the entire Constitution by strongly supporting, among other things, our religious liberties, our gun rights, our private property rights, and our state's right to protect our state's border. I will continue to vigorously support and defend the entire Constitution.
