WY Delegation Announces Service Academy Information Sessions

Press Release

Date: Nov. 15, 2013
Location: Cheyenne, WY

U.S. Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso and U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis invite junior high and high school students and their parents to attend service academy information sessions.

The information sessions have been organized to help students and their parents better understand the nomination and appointment process. All students and their families are encouraged to attend and visit with representatives of the academies, current cadets and midshipmen, and delegation staff.

"Service academies provide great opportunities to young people, including an excellent education and the skills they need to succeed in the military. I encourage all interested Wyoming students to attend these information sessions to better understand the nomination and appointment process. The Wyoming delegation is ready to help answer questions and help students begin their career with a nomination to a service academy," said Enzi.

"Each year, we nominate the most qualified Wyoming students to compete for each vacancy for the U.S. Air Force, Military, Merchant Marine and Naval Academies. A Congressional nomination is just the first step in the competitive process that can lead to an appointment. These information sessions are a great opportunity for students to find out exactly what to expect and how we can help them," said Barrasso.

"Senators Enzi and Barrasso and I each year nominate highly qualified Wyoming students to be considered by the military academies at West Point, Annapolis and the Air Force Academy. The academies have trained some of our finest leaders over the years and I place a high priority working with students and their families to receive an academy appointment," said Lummis.
