Today, Representative Tim Walz released the following statement after the Supreme Court issued its ruling in the case of the United States v. Windsor, a challenge to the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

"Today is a historic day for equality. I've never believed that the government should be able to tell you who you can or cannot love and I applaud the Supreme Court's decision to overturn DOMA. Today, our LGBT brothers and sisters are recognized as equals; that their lives are not worth less than anyone else's. Today, the arc of the moral universe bent a little bit further towards justice, and I could not be more proud."
