Horsford Reaction to Supreme Court Decisions Regarding LGBT Equality

Today, Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States announced decisions in Hollingsworth v. Perry and Windsor v. United States:

"I applaud today's Supreme Court decision in Windsor v. United States that second-class citizenship for same-sex married couples is unconstitutional. The Defense of Marriage Act defied our nation's commitment to equality by instituting legal discrimination and withholding thousands of social and financial rights due to all married couples. There is still work to be done, as the decision in Hollingsworth v. Perry makes clear, but today's Supreme Court rulings add momentum to the movement for true equality. We are one step closer to providing our LGBT brothers and sisters the full rights they deserve."
