BRADLEY NAMED TO HOUSE BUDGET COMMITTEE AND KEY ARMED SERVICES SUBCOMMITTEE
Wednesday, January 26, 2005

(Washington, D.C.) - Today, First District Congressman Jeb Bradley announced that he has been appointed to serve on the House Budget Committee and the Readiness Subcommittee within the House Armed Services Committee.

The Budget Committee reviews the President's budget proposal and then sets the federal government's annual budget. "Last year I voted for the 2005 budget, which had an increase in discretionary spending of less than one percent. We need to continue that type of fiscal restraint this year and in the future. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Committee to control spending while ensuring that we meet all of our country's needs," said Bradley.

Bradley has also been appointed to serve on the Readiness Subcommittee, which oversees military training and readiness programs as well as the base closure process. Bradley also serves on the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee.

"As a member of the Readiness Subcommittee, I will be able to further represent the interests and needs of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Keeping the Shipyard fully operational is vitally important to our national security and New Hampshire's economy, as the Shipyard employs over 4,000 people and has a military and civilian payroll of more than $318 million," said Bradley, who also serves on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee.
