Plummer Begins Rollout of His Jobs Plan

Press Release

Date: Aug. 2, 2012
Issues: Environment

As part of his pledge to help bring jobs back to Southern Illinois, Jason Plummer, Republican Nominee for Illinois' 12th Congressional District, released the first steps of his official Jobs Plan on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Plummer unveiled the first two parts of his plan which detailed pieces of legislation he would support to get regulatory agencies off the backs of job creators in Southern Illinois and across the country. The 12th District has been hit hard by the economic downturn and overregulation by federal agencies. Five of the District's counties are among the state's top 10 counties with the highest unemployment rate.

"Burdensome regulations, whether they are from the Labor Department, Environmental Protection Agency, or legislation like the Dodd-Frank Act, have put a further strain on our already-struggling economy," Plummer said. "Instead of rolling out the red tape, we must identify ways to let our job creators and small businesses do what they do best: create jobs."

In the regulatory portion of his Jobs Plan, Plummer highlighted several pieces of bipartisan legislation he would support in Congress. These bills include H.R 10, the Regulations from the Executive in Scrutiny Act, H.R. 4078, the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Creation Act, and H.R. 2401, the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation Act. Each of these bills would combat the regulations that get in the way of small businessmen across the country.

"There are too many burdensome regulations that come from federal agencies and cripple job growth across the country," Plummer added. "In Congress, I will work with leaders on both sides of the aisle to eliminate the needless regulations and get Americans back to work."

As he travels across the District, Plummer will release a different part of his jobs plan each week until the November 6 election. In total, his proposal will contain 12 points on how he will help get Southern Illinoisans back to work.

"Southern Illinois is hurting, and I'm proud to be running a positive, issue-oriented campaign," Plummer said. "The 12th District is too blessed to have such high unemployment, and I will continue to spell out my plan to bring jobs and prosperity back to the region."
