Issue Position: Protecting the Taxpayers

Issue Position

While most of our citizens have had to tighten their belts and cut their household budgets, big-spending politicians have forgotten how to say "No!" to the lobbyists and special interests that come to the state with their hands out. Enough is enough. I pledge that I will always stand up for Arizona's taxpayers and re-focus our efforts on preserving vital programs, while getting our state government back to doing only those things that it is constitutionally obligated to do. Instead of continued borrowing, we must cut spending and balance our budget. For my work at the state capitol, I have been named "Friend of the Taxpayer" or "Champion of the Taxpayer" by Americans for Prosperity every year in office. I am proud to have been a part of passing Arizona's 2011 budget. This was our state's first truly balanced budget in half a decade and it was accomplished with no gimmicks, no rollovers, and no borrowing! Thankfully we have gone from multi-billion dollars in deficits to a $600 million dollar surplus, finally putting our state back on sound financial footing.
