Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement commemorating the 44th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Governor Winthrop Rockefeller's 1968 Memorial Service:
"Today marks the 44th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., an American hero and pioneer of the civil rights movement. I was honored to join the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission and the Winthrop Rockefeller Centennial Coalition in paying tribute to Dr. King's powerful legacy and Governor Rockefeller's prayerful leadership during one of our nation's most trying times. These two men deeply affected Arkansas, and by remembering their words and work, we build upon the reconciliation they encouraged."
