MAKING SURE GOVERNMENT IS NOT FOR SALE

The recent ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States in the Citizens United case has allowed millions of dollars in undisclosed campaign contributions to flood into and influence American politics. If corporations have the same rights as individuals, then they should have to disclose their political contributions just like we do. Let's level the playing field. I support the Democratic Senate leadership's efforts to pass a law requiring these corporations to disclose their political spending.

As your next U.S. Senator, I will:

Join the fight to pass the DISCLOSE ACT. This law will protect our country from foreign influence, prevent taxpayer money from being spent on political ads, and will allow us to follow the money donated by corporations.
Support Supreme Court nominees with a responsible background in defending campaign finance disclosure laws and spending limits. I will not vote to confirm a candidate for the highest court in our country if they do not have a record supporting open government and political disclosure requirements.
