Rep Fleming Reflects on 9/11 - 10 Years Later

Statement

Congressman John Fleming, M.D. issued the following statement regarding the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States -- events that will forever impact every American.

"It's hard to believe that tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of the devastating and cowardly terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It was on that fateful September morning that nearly 3,000 of our fellow Americans lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on United Flight 93 that went down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. These acts of extremism and hate have no place in our world, and as the United States continues its fight against Islamic terrorism and intolerance, we must never forget the heavy toll in human life we have paid since 9/11. We should never forget the victims of the attacks, the first responders, firefighters, and police officers who had no idea that they would be thrust onto the front lines of the war on terror that September morning. I remain grateful for the enduring sacrifice of our brave armed forces serving in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere abroad who protect our freedoms and guarantee our safety each day. Every American owes them a great debt of gratitude and thanks."

Dr. John Fleming is Chairman of the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife, Oceans and Insular Affairs and is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. He is a physician and small business owner and represents the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana.
