Rokita Responds to Dismal June Labor Report

Today's report from the Department of Labor is another indication that the policies of President Obama and liberals in Congress have made matters worse, not better.

"Today's unemployment numbers are just the latest indication that the policies of President Obama and liberals in Congress have failed to get our economy back on track. We simply cannot spend, borrow, tax and regulate our way to prosperity," Rokita said.

The unemployment rate increased to 9.2 percent in June, with the economy only adding 18,000 jobs nationwide, the weakest showing in nine months.

"Getting our economy growing again and helping small business owners and entrepreneurs create jobs is a top priority. To do that, we must balance our budget and reduce the skyrocketing national debt. Out-of-control spending has created uncertainty that is preventing job creation and economic growth," Rokita said.

"We must also rollback the burdensome, job-destroying regulatory red tape the Obama administration has used to tie the hands of America's job creators. That's why I recently launched Red Tape Rollback in partnership with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce to repeal and reform burdensome and unnecessary federal regulations," Rokita added.
