Rokita Votes to Prohibit Taxpayer Funds for Abortions

Statement

Date: May 4, 2011
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Representative Todd Rokita (IN-4) today voted for H.R. 3, the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act". Rokita released the following statement:

"I strongly believe that American, and Hoosier, tax dollars should not be spent on abortion or funding organizations that actively encourage the practice. Considering our debt has reached an unsustainable level so dangerous it threatens our very way of life and our children's future, the last thing we should be funding are abortions or organizations that encourage abortion. H.R. 3 is an important step in making that the law of the land. I am proud to cosponsor this bill and even more proud of the bipartisan manner in which it passed the House of Representatives. Our leaders need to stand strong together, look out for taxpayers and protect the lives of those who cannot protect themselves."

H.R. 3, the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act", passed the House of Representatives on May 4, 2011, by a vote of 251-175.
