First 100 Days: Rep. Noem, New Congress Make Progress

Statement

Reps. Kristi Noem (R-SD) offered the following statement on her first 100 days representing South Dakota in Congress:

"We've hit the ground running in the first 100 days to represent South Dakota as effectively as possible here in Congress. The challenges facing our country are great but we are making headway in reducing spending and creating jobs. For years Washington has been on a deficit spending binge but those days are hopefully over. We're changing the way Washington does business because excessive government spending has economic consequences for every South Dakotan -- higher cost of living, higher interest rates and higher taxes.

"My focus over the last 100 days has been to give small businesses and the rest of the private sector the breathing room and regulatory certainty they need to create jobs. We've made progress on that with legislation to cut spending by $39 billion, repeal health care law mandates on small business and stop unneeded regulations. That will continue to be my focus because we didn't get into this mess in 100 days and we won't get out of it in 100 days."
