At the beginning of the foreclosure crisis Claudia Kauffman sponsored a bill (SB 6711) to give emergency assistance to middle and low-income families in danger of foreclosure. She also sponsored bills to expand affordable housing through the Housing Trust Fund, increasing the fund's bonding capacity (SB 6332 & SB 5452). This year she sponsored a bill to use federal funds for weatherization of homes more efficiently (SB 6468). As workers install weatherization improvements for homes, they often find structural repairs that need to be done before weatherization can be completed. With the passage of her bill, weatherization funds can now be used for those necessary repairs.
