Giannoulias Launches Support of "Keep Our Educators Working Act"

State Treasurer and nominee for the United States Senate Alexi Giannoulias delivered the following statement today expressing his complete support for the Keep Our Educators Working Act, which would extend education funding and help protect over 300,000 American teachers from being laid off:
"In the midst of the greatest economic recession since the Great Depression, I believe that our education system must be protected from massive layoffs and budget cuts. That's why I strongly support Senator Harkin's bill to effectively extend the education funding provisions in last year's Recovery Act. This legislation will go a long way to help avert the devastating budget cuts facing local school districts throughout Illinois."
