Issue Position

Education is the greatest investment we can make in the future economic success of our country. For years, America has lagged behind our international competitors in quality of education. We must reverse this trend by providing a quality education for every child from the ground up. We must strengthen our pre-K programs, diversify the curriculum that students receive in K-12, and make sure that a college education is attainable for anyone willing to work for it. No student -- whether fresh out of high school, a veteran returning home on the GI Bill, or an adult seeking to continue his or her education -- should go broke trying to attain a degree. Furthermore, educators provide one of the most valuable economic tools of success that our nation has at its disposal. Teachers should be rewarded for achievement, and students seeking degrees in education and public service should benefit from their desire to serve their communities.
