No more important investment can be made than the investment in our children, especially at the earliest stage. That is why education is Senator Raoul's top priority in Springfield. As an advocate of the City Colleges of Chicago, Senator Raoul knows that early childhood education is the key to ensuring that all children start school eager and ready to learn, and the basis for future educational success.
As such, he successfully sponsored an important bill that would require that the grants distributed by Illinois State Board of Education to public school districts and community-based providers to conduct birth-to-three and preschool programs must be used to improve the expansion and the quality of services.
Senator Raoul serves on the Higher Education committee and is a board member of College Summit, an organization that encourages and helps disadvantaged youth gain access to college.
