Gov. John Hoeven today encouraged North Dakotans to help those impacted by the earthquake in Haiti by making financial donations to the American Red Cross or a charitable organization of their choosing. Donations will help support the emergency relief and recovery efforts currently underway in that country, providing much needed supplies, relief workers and financial resources to those affected by the disaster.

"I join all North Dakotans in continuing to extend our sympathies to the people of Haiti and their families as they deal with the devastation of this earthquake disaster," said Hoeven. "In true North Dakota spirit, I encourage citizens to do what they can to help provide emergency relief and recovery resources to those whose lives have been impacted by this tragic event."

Donations to the American Red Cross can be made at any local Red Cross office, by going online to www.redcross.org or calling 1-800-733-2767. Individuals can also donate $10 on their cell phones by texting the word "Haiti" to the number 90999.
