JEB BRADLEY STATEMENT ON SHEA-PORTER'S VOTE ON HR 6515

Jeb Bradley released the following statement in response to Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's (1st CD, NH) vote to require oil companies to drill on potentially unusuitable land.

"Carol Shea Porter apparently believes our nation should explore for oil where there is little or no oil, ban exploration for oil where there is oil, and when that energy policy does not work Shea-Porter believes our nation should sue OPEC. This is a laughable energy policy when Americans are struggling to fill up their tanks today and worried about the cost of heating their homes this winter.

Reference:

Today the House voted 244 to 173 on HR 6515 requiring oil companies to drill on existing leases that have little recoverable oil. Also called the Use it or Lose it provision. The bill failed to pass as it did not meet the required 2/3rds majority.

On May 20, 2008, Carol Shea Porter voted to sue OPEC
