Buchanan Contrasts his Positions with Jennings's Liberal Agenda

Sarasota, Florida - Congressional candidate Vern Buchanan today drew clear distinctions between his positions on the issues and his opponent's liberal agenda. During a candidate forum, Buchanan outlined important differences on illegal immigration, tax cuts, and national security.

"The voters have a clear choice in this election," said Buchanan. "I want to secure our borders and crack down on illegal immigration. My opponent opposes border security legislation passed in the House and supports amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"I support making the recent tax cuts permanent, including repeal of the death tax, elimination of the marriage penalty, and keeping the per-child tax credit. My opponent wants to repeal the tax credits, which provide needed tax relief for Florida's families.

"I believe that the war in Iraq is an important part of the War on Terror and that our success will help create a less dangerous middle east, which will make us safer. My opponent has aligned herself with Congressman John Murtha who wants to surrender in Iraq. She doesn't think we can win the War on Terror and proposes we rely solely on diplomacy to stop terrorists."

Buchanan also pledged to keep the promises we have made to our seniors by preserving Social Security and Medicare and touted his endorsement by the VFW Pac during the forum, which was sponsored by the Sarasota Bay Club in Sarasota.
