Burns Calls On Barrow To Condemn His Party's Latest Fundraising Pitch

(Savannah, Georgia) Max Burns, former Congressman running to represent Georgia's new 12th District, today called on Athens Congressman John Barrow to condemn his party's latest fundraising pitch which shows the caskets of fallen American soldiers.

"It's absolutely disgusting to see John Barrow's party exploiting the sacrifices of our American soldiers," said Burns. "Our servicemen and women are doing a magnificent job protecting our freedom under very, very difficult circumstances and for the Democrats to exploit soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for a political purposes is a new low in American politics."

The Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), in a quest to regain control of Congress, released a fundraising solicitation video containing images of caskets of U.S. soldiers killed in the War on Terror. The video was linked to an email from DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel and all House Democrat leaders, including liberal San Francisco Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer - who has campaigned with Barrow in the 12th District on numerous occasions - appear in the video. In addition, the video contains a fabricated mug shot of former Congressman Tom DeLay marked with "91108GOP."

"I think we all clearly remember September 11th, and for the Democrats to use it in such a cheap attempt at humor or to raise money for political gain, dishonors the lives lost that day and the sacrifices that ordinary Americans made that morning and in the War on Terror, not to mention it is just plain sick," said Burns.

"John Barrow must repudiate in the strongest possible terms his party's leadership, including Pelosi, Hoyer and Emanuel, for authorizing pictures of flag-draped caskets containing the bodies of American soldiers to be used in such a despicable way or Georgians will be left to conclude that John Barrow supports politicizing September 11th and the deaths of American servicemen and women in order to raise campaign cash."
