Scott Statement on Failed Mayorkas Impeachment Vote

"The U.S. Constitution sets an extremely high standard for impeachment -- "high Crimes and Misdemeanors.' Republicans have failed to produce any evidence that Secretary Mayorkas has violated this constitutional standard. This impeachment has been panned by legal scholarsand even some Senate Republicans have admitted this impeachment is without merit.

It is notable that while House Republicans are ostensibly pursuing this impeachment over immigration policy and border security, they are simultaneously promising to block the bipartisan Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act that provides additional border security funding requested by the Biden Administration and includes Republicans' own border policy demands. This is just the latest example of the extreme MAGA Republicans complaining about an issue, instead of focusing on a solution. Instead of lowering costs for working families, investing in the middle class and meeting the needs of the American people, we wasted time and taxpayer resources on a baseless and failed impeachment vote."
