QUALITY OF LIFE PANEL HOLDS BRIEFING ON COMPENSATION

Press Release

Date: Oct. 18, 2023
Location: Washington, DC

"To continue recruiting and retaining our next generation of smart, mission-driven service members, we need military compensation to keep pace with our growing economy. Thankfully, competitive compensation has been a top priority for the House Armed Services Committee for years, and our bipartisan efforts to maintain competitive pay and benefits continue. As a veteran and the daughter and granddaughter of career naval aviators, however, I know military compensation is a complex issue. Right now, our country is experiencing record low unemployment, a subsequently competitive job market, changing workforce and higher education landscapes, and more -- all factors that must be part of the conversation around military pay and quality of life. I'm glad our panel heard from experts on this critical topic, and I look forward to exploring additional ways to support our brave men and women in uniform."
