SWALWELL STATEMENT ON HOSTAGE RELEASE AND HUMANITARIAN PAUSE

Statement

"I wholeheartedly welcome the President Biden-led deal reached between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas for the release of 50 hostages, including many Americans. Hamas's barbaric terror attack and kidnappings on October 7 has brought suffering upon Israelis and innocent Palestinians. I applaud President Biden for his leadership and the government of Qatar for supporting the negotiations that led to this deal. My hope is that this is the first of many agreements to see the release of every hostage, stem the loss of innocent life, and enable more humanitarian aid to the innocent people of Gaza. Ultimately, every step we take must be in the direction of finding a two-state solution where Israelis and Palestinians live in peace and prosperity."
