"Maintaining U.S. leadership in technical standards is essential to maintaining our competitiveness in advanced industries. The Science Committee has long championed the U.S. approach to standard setting based on open, voluntary, industry-led, and consensus-based processes. We led the development of key international standards provisions in the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, which would improve government coordination and bolster the participation of U.S. stakeholders in international standards discussions. We applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for the forward-looking strategy to ensure the Federal government is supporting our Nation's diverse innovators in standards setting for critical and emerging technologies."
