Senator Baldwin and Colleagues Introduce Resolution Celebrating International Transgender Day of Visibility

Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) joined 23 of her senate colleagues in introducing a resolution to recognize the achievements and courage of the transgender community around the world, and to celebrate International Transgender Day of Visibility.

"At a time when our trans community is under attack, International Transgender Day of Visibility is an important time to send a clear message to our transgender friends and neighbors: I see you, I am with you, and I stand with you to celebrate the courage and dignity of living life as who you are," said Senator Baldwin. "I'm proud to join my colleagues on this resolution and continue our work to creating a future where all Americans have the freedom of full equality."

The resolution was led by Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI) and is also cosponsored by U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Chris Murphy (D-CT), Tom Carper (D-DE), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Bob Casey (D-PA), Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Ed Markey (D-MA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Peter Welch (D-VT), Jeff Merkley (D-OT), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Patty Murray (D-WA), John Fetterman (D-PA), and Ron Wyden (D-OR).

The resolution is supported by the National Center for Transgender Equality, PFLAG National, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Human Rights Campaign, Trevor Project, GLSEN, GLAAD, Center for American Progress, and LGBTQ+ Victory Institute.
