Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement after passage of the Republican Rules package:

"Right out of the gate, Republicans rigged the rules for billionaires and corruption and against the planet and working families. They gutted the Office of Congressional Ethics, attacked IRS funding necessary to go after wealthy tax cheats, and paved the way for cuts to critical supports for hardworking Americans and seniors -- from affordable housing and health care to Medicare and Social Security. And, they are using the Rules package to erode women's rights, fast tracking multiple bills to restrict abortion access and reproductive freedom.

"Kevin McCarthy hasn't held the Speaker's gavel for a whole week, and already he's handed over the keys to MAGA extremists and special interests for the next two years."
