Neal Statement on House Passage of Fy23 Omnibus Package

Press Release

Date: Dec. 23, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) issued this statement after the House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2023 omnibus government funding package:

"In the nick of time, the House has once again met the needs of the American people, and will deliver major investments in workers and families. This package isn't perfect and we couldn't secure all of our priorities, but I am proud of the key Ways and Means provisions that were included. We honor our late colleague Jackie Walorski and will lift up families across the country by reauthorizing and increasing funding for the proven Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV) program. Saving for retirement will be easier than ever with my SECURE 2.0 legislation, thanks to an expanded automatic enrollment provision and a federal match for the lowest income Americans. The investments in Americans' health, specifically for our Medicare beneficiaries, will allow for more flexibility and make mental health services more accessible.

"I extend my deepest gratitude to my colleagues, and staff for working hard to secure this package, and look forward to President Biden signing into law."
