Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) today released the following statement after voting against H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, which would make it a crime to knowingly import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device.
"This bill is a complete overreach in violation of the second amendment, informed by fear rather than facts. This bill bans the most popular choices for hunters and sportsmen and cripples the ability of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families. Inaccurately named an assault weapons ban, this bill would ensure that only criminals are armed and would leave law-abiding Nebraskans in the crosshairs."
