Location: Washington, DC

Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema met with the newly-formed GoWest Credit Union Association to discuss a variety of banking proposals pending before Congress -- including several Sinema-sponsored bills -- and her work growing Arizona's economy.

"I'm proud to champion commonsense, bipartisan legislation cutting red tape and lowering costs, particularly for rural credit unions, so GoWest can focus on what matters -- helping customers, serving Arizona communities, and expanding local economic opportunities," said Sinema, a member of the Senate Banking Committee.

Sinema spoke with the credit union association about her bipartisan Credit Union Board Modernization Act -- legislation that lowers costs for credit unions by modernizing board meeting requirements so they can continue serving the Arizonans who rely on their banking services. The Senator expressed her desire to quickly find a path forward and pass her proposal into law.

Additionally, Sinema highlighted her long standing support for the SAFE Banking Act. The bipartisan legislation -- of which Sinema is an original cosponsor -- would guarantee legal Arizona businesses' access to banking and insurance services.

Northwest Credit Union Association and the Mountain West Credit Union Association recently merged and are now collectively the GoWest Credit Union Association, representing the credit unions in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
