Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following statement in response to the Biden Administration's recently released National Security Strategy:

"Almost halfway through the Administration, the Biden team has finally released their National Security Strategy. Rather than providing a clear and cohesive strategy to guide the executive branch and set budgetary and legislative priorities, this NSS is comprised of a convoluted, overlapping set of talking points that lacks any grand vision or strategic foresight. According to the NSS, the United States will do everything, but nothing, at the same time. There are five most pressing or existential challenges and 11 leading priorities. We will support every country's right to "exercise the freedom to make choices that serve their interests,' unless we don't agree with them or the choice is independence for Taiwan.

"After 21 months of drafting and debating, this NSS falls short of providing a strategic construct to guide America's national security policies. What it does provide, however, is an insight into the mindset of Biden Administration officials that lead to the multiple catastrophic failures we have witnessed. The framing of these failures in the NSS is remarkable -- the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan is billed as a responsible end to America's longest war; despite Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the overwhelming amount of resources America has provided in Ukraine's defense, the stated policy is to "constrain' Russia. In response to China's "assertive behavior' and human rights violations in Xinjiang, the Biden Administration will not "withhold progress' on partisan issues such as "the climate crisis because of bilateral differences.'

"Without a clearly defined strategic vision from the Biden Administration, Republicans in the House will continue to advance our Commitment to America. We will stand up to America's competitors, strengthen our military, and reinvest in our defense industrial base. Our objectives are clear, and our intent is resolute."
