Manning, Cooper Highlight Impact of Federal Funding at High Point Child Care Center

Press Release

Date: Nov. 3, 2022
Location: High Point, NC

Today, Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) and North Carolina Governor Cooper visited Kid Appeal, a child care center in High Point, North Carolina, to highlight the use of federal funding from the American Rescue Plan, which Congresswoman Manning helped to pass in 2021.

"I proudly voted to send federal funding home to North Carolina through the American Rescue Plan. This critical funding supported 2,000 childcare jobs in Guilford County alone and helped North Carolina's childcare centers, like Kid Appeal here in High Point, keep their doors open so parents could get back to work and young children could build a strong foundation," said Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06). "I'm thankful for Governor Cooper's leadership to ensure that these federal dollars effectively support our childcare workers and centers."

"These child care investments are providing parents with the support they need to get back into or stay in the workforce while ensuring children get the early childhood education they need to succeed," North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said.

Through funding from the American Rescue Plan, North Carolina distributed $655 million in North Carolina Child Care Stabilization Grants to more than 4,200 child care centers across the state, including $37.4 million to Guilford County and $19.7 million to Forsyth County.
