Today, Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06) announced that the State Veterans Home in Kernersville is pre-certifying prospective residents and will open in early 2023. This news comes as Manning's office received a response from the North Carolina Department of Military and Veteran Affairs regarding a letter Manning sent requesting an update on the estimated opening of the State Veterans Home in Kernersville.

Working with local veterans who eagerly anticipate the opening of the Kernersville State Veterans Home, Congresswoman Manning sent a letter on Monday, October 24th to the NC Department of Military and Veteran Affairs. The Department provided Rep. Manning's office answers to each of the questions Congresswoman Manning asked on behalf of local veterans.

"The Kernersville State Veterans Home will help provide much needed care to veterans in our community and across our state in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. I'm glad to work with local veterans, and federal, state, and community partners to make sure this facility is up and running and ready to serve our veterans as soon as possible," said Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06). "I'm glad to provide our local veterans with answers and up-to-date information about this eagerly anticipated facility. I will continue working to help ensure that our veterans receive the care and benefits they've earned in service to our nation."

"I'm thankful Congresswoman Manning advocated for the veterans of our group, the Guilford County Disabled American Veterans, and was able to get us an updated timeline and answers to questions we posed to her at our last meeting regarding the Kernersville State Veterans Home," said Bill Tate, Commander of Guilford County DAV Chapter 20. "Members of the Disabled America Veterans of Greensboro have been eager to hear about the status of the Kernersville State Home Facility and are looking forward to having access to this important resource."
