Press Release

Date: Sept. 6, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko (AZ-08) led a Congressional Delegation to Tucson, AZ, and Nogales, AZ, to receive an update from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and see firsthand the worsening crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. Lesko was joined at the southern border by Representatives Drew Ferguson (R-GA-03) and Michelle Fischbach (R-MN-07).

"I was pleased to lead my colleagues on this important visit to the southern border," said Congresswoman Lesko. "U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are on the ground every day facing an unmitigated national security, humanitarian, and public health crisis thanks to President Biden's open border policies. It is critical to hear directly from agents on the ground about what needs to be done to secure the southern border. I thank my colleagues for coming on the trip to learn more about what we're facing in Arizona, and I will continue to work to fight for our nation's border security."

Members of the delegation visited the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector Headquarters, U.S. Border Patrol Nogales Station Headquarters, CBP Office of Field Operations Tucson Sector Headquarters, the Nogales-Mariposa Port of Entry, and the DeConcini Port of Entry, and conducted an aerial tour of border terrain and infrastructure with CBP Air and Marine Operations.
