Jenniffer González Announces Extension Of The Pandemic-EBT Program

The federal program that provides monetary assistance to students in Puerto Rico who participate in the school canteen program and have been affected by closures or interruptions of schedules in their schools due to the pandemic is extended to summer 2022, reported the resident commissioner , Jenniffer González Colón, referring to the Pandemic-EBT program.

It is estimated that this extension, available to the rest of the states, could impact over 350,000 students and children, assuming that the emergency period due to the COVID-19 pandemic continues until the end of the summer.

Federal aid will continue to be distributed through the Puerto Rico Department of the Family. Participants and interested persons should keep an eye on guidelines from said agency later.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the congresswoman had managed to get Puerto Rico included in the Pandemic-EBT, as an alternative to school cafeterias, the island receiving over $600 million until March of this year, helping about 330,000 students and 73,000 children in care. .
