Carl Votes Against Anti-2nd Amendment Legislation

Press Release

Date: July 15, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Guns

Today, U.S. Representative Jerry Carl (R-AL) issued the following statement regarding his vote against the Senate's gun control legislation.

Today, I voted against the Senate's gun control bill that blatantly infringes on lawful gun owners' 2nd Amendment rights. This bill would make some common firearm transactions illegal, it would single out law-abiding gunowners under the age of 21, and it would pave the way for taxpayer dollars to be used for "red flag" laws.

This bill does nothing to provide increased security for our schools or hire more resource officers. We have real problems in this country that need to be addressed but ramming through legislation disarming law-abiding gun owners is not the answer. The 2nd Amendment is clear that the right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed, and I will never waiver from upholding our most fundamental Constitutional rights.

Congressman Carl's office can be reached at 202-225-4931.
