Landsman Statement on New Proposed National Abortion Ban

Washington Republicans are introducing a new national abortion ban. Councilmember Greg Landsman, candidate for Congress in OH-01, released the following statement:

"Republicans continue to attack the rights afforded by Roe following the Dobbs decision earlier this summer. I stand with the majority of Americans who believe that women and their doctors should determine these decisions, not politicians. Chabot has spent decades trying to rip away a woman's right to choose. If Republicans take back the House and Senate, Chabot will do everything he can to ban abortion without exception."

Chabot has called the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling the most "wrong-headed decision ever," worse than decisions upholding slavery and "separate but equal'. He supports legislation that could throw women in jail for getting abortions and ban birth control or IVF. Earlier this year, he voted against codifying the rights of Roe and protecting access to contraception.

"Chabot is an anti-choice extremist who is leading the charge on one of the greatest governmental overreaches in history. I'll work to restore this core freedom that Chabot and others have stripped away from our families."
