Today, Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) released his first TV ad of the 2022 cycle, highlighting his experience as a small business owner and his work in Congress to lower prescription drug costs by taking on the big drug companies, lowering gas prices by fighting price gouging by oil companies and standing up to Democratic leadership to ban stock trading by members of Congress.

"Owning a small business means doing whatever it takes to get the job done, and that's what I've done in Washington to fight for Granite State families," said Congressman Pappas. "From taking on the drug and oil companies to lower gas and prescription drugs prices, to standing up to my own party to do what's right and end stock trading by members of Congress, I'll never stop fighting for New Hampshire and putting New Hampshire families first. I'm proud of the results we are delivering for Granite Staters, and I will stay focused on the work we have ahead of us to address inflation and lower energy costs, support our small businesses, and keep our communities healthy and safe."

Background:

Soon after taking office, Rep. Pappas helped introduce H.R. 3, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, which would give Medicare the power to negotiate directly with drug companies. He also wrote and introduced key legislation as part of that bill to cut red tape and make it easier for seniors to afford prescription drugs through Medicare Part D.

Earlier this year, Pappas helped pass legislation to cap insulin copays at $35 dollars per month for those on Medicare or with private insurance.

Pappas has led the fight to ban members of Congress from trading stocks and profiting off of the information they gain while serving in office. He broke with his own party in pushing for this commonsense reform, and following his advocacy, House leadership changed course and now supports this effort. He continues to push Democratic leadership to bring this bill to the floor for a vote at once.

Pappas fought to pass legislation to stop oil companies who are reaping record profits from price gouging and hurting New Hampshire families. This included a provision he wrote to allow the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to penalize oil companies that inflate gas prices.

Pappas has called for a suspension of the federal gas tax to provide immediate relief to Granite Staters at the pump, and he helped pass the bipartisan Lower Food and Fuel Costs Act.
